Aaron Scott Kaulay Sr., 57, of Checotah, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee.
He was born May 2, 1967, in Clinton, Oklahoma, the son of Ira Kaulay Jr. and Mary Nell (Tiger) Kaulay.
Aaron graduated from Checotah High School in 1985. He worked for the Creek Nation Casino in Checotah. He married Mary Theresa Rosel in 2006. They were happily together for 25 years.
Aaron was quiet and reserved. He liked to stand back in the crowd and watch and listen. He enjoyed music, billiards, basketball, Michael Jordan, concerts and Pow Wow’s. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. When it came to sports, Aaron would say, “He was the reason that Troy Aikman played football instead of basketball because he crossed him over.”
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kaulay of the home; children, Aaron Scott Kaulay Jr. and his wife, Brittany of Broken Arrow, Geoffrey Michael Kaulay and his wife, Heather Guffey of Checotah, Joshua David Kaulay and his wife, Gabrielle of Checotah, Jordan Grant Kaulay of Checotah, Christian Joe Kaulay of Checotah, Stephanie Lawson of Colcord and Margaret Brewer and her husband, Richard of Warner; 8 grandchildren; his first wife, Sally Montes of Checotah; his siblings, Norman Tiger of Eufaula, Clifton Kaulay and his wife, Kelly of Checotah, Daneta Kauley of Checotah, Susan Elaine Kaulay of Checotah and numerous other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kaulay and his grandparents, Ira Kaulay Sr. and Hattie Kone-Tah-Kone-Keah Kaulay.
Viewing for Aaron will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, OK 74426.
The family will conduct a private Celebration of Aaron’s Life with Rev. Bryce Scott officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers: Seymour Tiger, Robert Tiger, Joe Eslick, Lance Bohanan, Kennan Phillips, Jeremiah Eslick and Steven Phillips.
